Italian painter, sculptor and decorator, member of the historical group of abstract artists from Como, Aldo Galli studied painting and engraving at Brera, returning to Como in 1932 where he came into contact with the group of artists gathered around the rationalist architect Giuseppe Terragni and the abstract artists Manlio Rho and Mario Radice. Certainly influenced by the leaders of the school with regard to his pictorial experiences, which were also carried out with great mastery, Galli stands out from Rho and Radice for his ability to transport pure rationalist schematism into the field of sculpture and engraving. His works are considered almost unanimously by critics as among the most significant of the first experiences of abstract art in Italy. Galli's works are known to have been made with the most diverse materials: paper, canvas, but also sculptures in aluminum and even glass. His works are kept in numerous museums and important private collections: a large sculpture is part of the fund of the modern art collections of the Municipality of Milan. His archive is currently kept in the Como Library. Galli’s artistic production, although very varied in materials, was rather limited in number due to the care he put into the creation of his works, therefore his works are quite rare on the market.
