Dolores Sella was born in Arona to a Venetian family but her life has mainly been spent in Lucca. She obtained a Master's Degree and a diploma from the "G. Rossini" Music High School in Pesaro, dedicating herself to studying piano. She abandoned her university studies on the eve of graduation when an accident prevented her from continuing to dedicate herself to piano performance. She then turned her attention to the visual arts, and collected her first acclaim from 1950 by participating in the most important exhibitions in the country and the most qualifying international exhibitions. Since 1954 she has worked exclusively with printmaking techniques. She has created 283 plates, including copper and zinc, with different and experimental techniques. Her works are found in private and public collections, including: Raccolta Bertarelli in Milan; Gabinetto Disegni e Stampe of the University of Pisa; Fondazione Ragghianti in Lucca and Gabinetto delle Stampe Antiche e Moderne in Bagnacavallo.
