A pupil of the painter Karl Raupp in Munich, later Italico Brass continued his studies in Paris. At that time he met his future wife, whom he married in 1895. Shortly after he settled in Venice, exerting his work as a painter. He participated in many editions of the Venice Biennal and exhibited in various cities in Europe and America. In his painting of Venetian views, Italico Brass combines a lively impressionistic colour with the memory of Canaletto and Guardi. He was a sensitive connoisseur and collector, and gathered a fine collection of old master paintings and drawings.
