LUIGI NONO (Fusina 1850 - Venice 1918) BOATS ON THE LAGOON
Pen and black ink, on laid paper with unidentified watermark, signed IX° at the bottom left corner; 225 x 340 mm.

Nono was trained at the Accademia of Venice. He began to exhibit his works in 1873, at the Brera. In a few years he became a successful painter, specializing in landscape and genre subjects, in close continuity with his friends Guglielmo Ciardi and Giacomo Favretto. Luigi's brother was a sculptor, and his grandson, bearing the same name, was an Italian avant-garde music composer.
