Giovanni Lomi became an orphan when he was only 6 years old and was adopted by a family of farmers. As a young man, he was forced to work to support himself, and despite his passion for drawing and painting, he was not able to attend art school. Lomi began his artistic career around 1918. He had his first solo exhibition in Florence in 1922. In the course of his career he held about 40 other solo exhibitions, the last in Milan, in 1969.
Lomi had a beautiful baritone voice and devoted himself also, with success, to sing opera.
