Focosi trained at the Milanese Academy of Brera from 1819 to 1827. He specialized in drawing and lithography. His activity as a lithographer includes illustrations for literary works, such as the Promessi Sposi and numerous full-length portraits of famous artists and men, all executed from his drawings.
